Youth Missions Trip 2023

Sicamous, B.C.

Our team will be headed to Sicamous, B.C. to partner with Sicamous Bible Church to help run their summer VBS (Vacation Bible School) program, as well as lending a hand at the nearby Sunnybrae Camp. Our team will be helping lead games, run crafts, and help the kids at VBS learn about God. At camp, our team will be doing some work to help on a project for improving the camp. There’s also going to be some fun activities during our downtime when we’re not serving at camp or the vbs. 2023’s youth missions trip will be an opportunity to be a part of something that matters to God, and to see his hand at work as we serve in a different context.

Who

This trip is open to any students who are in grades 9-12 during the 202-2023 school year. Grade 8 students will also be welcome to participate on a case-by-case basis as our team will be responsible for looking after younger students at the VBS.

When

Dates: Sunday, July 23rd to Saturday, July 30th, 2023

Cost

Cost: $250 per person

We estimate that the total cost for the trip will be in the vicinity of $1000 per person, which will be covered according to the following plan:

Every team member will be expected to contribute $250 for the trip
The church’s Missions Committee will be able to contribute $250 for each member (following a written request for assistance, templates will b provided)
Team members will write letters to relatives & family friends to request financial and/or prayer support (a template will be provided): estimated $100 in assistance from response to letters
Group fundraising efforts (2 fundraising events/activities): estimated $400 per team member will be covered by what is raised

Expectations

All students who join the missions team will…

Attend a monthly team meeting (May, June, July)
Participate in all team fundraising efforts (2 events/activities)
Serve with Sardis Fellowship’s VBS Soccer Camp in the first week of July
Demonstrate a team player attitude and a willingness to serve
