In the Fall of 2021, Sardis Fellowship is going to be offering "The Pre-Marriage Course" for couples in our Church and in our community who are engaged to be married and want to put their best foot forward.
“The Pre-Marriage Course is a series of five sessions to help engaged couples or those exploring the possibility of marriage, build strong foundations for their future together.
Nicky and Sila Lee, authors of The Marriage Book, developed The Pre-Marriage Course to help couples invest in their relationship for a lasting marriage. Over five sessions, the course will help you to learn to communicate well, understand and appreciate your differences, and prepare for potential challenges. ”
What will each session look like?
We start each session all together as an online Zoom group, and do a quick check-in with Rob and Diana. Then, we will watch that week’s video clips, including taking pauses for couples to have discussion time between themselves. (We mute the couple’s microphones and turn off the camera for this portion.) At the end, Rob and Diana check in to make sure the content makes sense, answer any questions and make sure people know the assignment for the week. (Don’t worry, the assignments are easy and fun! Think: date nights!)
While the course is based on Christian principles, it is designed for couples with or without a church background.
Why is the course being held over Zoom?
We are intentionally offering this course online through Zoom, because the course was designed to start important conversations in each couple, and being separate in our own homes, allows for a private conversation space. This works well, as long as each couple is joining the meeting from the same computer, this class runs very smoothly online.
What materials will we need to participate?
Besides access to a computer to join us on Zoom, each couple will need a copy of the Alpha Pre-Marriage Course Study Journal. Journals can be purchased through Pastor Rob & Diana, by indicating you’d like them to order a copy during sign-up. Or, alternatively, you may order a copy yourself via Amazon.
